Too Many Worshipers But, Few Followers of God

Has salvation/justification earned through faith in the sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ on the cross made Christianity a cheesy, entertaining religion of automatic entitlement to personal desires? No *1.

Christianity is not mainly entertainment, praise and worship services in the name of feeling good or reaching out to other (these are necessary too) but, we need to be transformed by the renewing of our mind after our initial encounter with God *2, by fervently studying the word, praying and representing our saviour in words, thoughts and deeds. The word of God is powerful, tearing asunder the hearts of men, transforming souls *3.  He puts in us both to will and do his good pleasure *4. We only need to submit to the Holy Spirit within us.

The letter below may be a simple act of love but, anything done in the name of our Lord is lifting him up in worship.

Jealousy

Sad but true, in everyone’s life and especially within the family are killers of dreams and destiny. Those deeply jealous of us that they would do anything to destroy us.

This list includes; spouse,parent,colleague,neighbour,schoolmate,sibling,people personally know or unknown to you, the common factor with these people is their readiness to be used by the devil to prevent your independence, success in whatever you choose to do and ultimately what you were born to do.

One very good example is in Genesis; Joseph let his brothers into his dream(destiny) which was yet unclear to him, hoping to get some clarity and help, instead, his brothers became Jealous of his destiny  and chose to kill him, since no man can end the life of a child of God, they did the most they could, made his journey to greatness very difficult, in fact almost impossible.

As much as possible, we must keep our dreams/plans within, talk less, make God our primary companion through Prayers and Bible Studies. He is closer than we think

Personal Responsibility; it is entirely up to us to protect ourselves from Jealous people and relate with like-minded people. Do not accommodate ungodly people, resist the devil and he will flee from you.

Charred or glowing church

Is our church charred or glowing? What a question!!!  God does not like lukewarm, it is either hot or cold, we are either burnt or shining the light of God’s glory.

We often forgot our christian mission and most of brotherly love because we are biting more than we can chew. We forget to support the brethren because our time and money are fully engaged in programmes emanating from grandiose ideas of Church founders and leaders.

A church only shines when it is in the will of God, revealed and executed by the holy spirit. (He puts in us both to will and do his good purpose, we are his workmanship).  In today’s society,  success is marked by size of the church, number of regular members, community impact and the number of worship services and programmes. Who is in control? the Holy Spirit or the society? When we can truly say, it’s not what we think, what we want, but, the will of God driving all we do, then can we shine for all to see.

Comparing and trying to be like church “A”, the so-called successful church is not only ungodly, it leaves us spiritually, mentally and physically burnt out.  A burnt out church is no use to anyone, it is filled with insecurity, greed, faithlessness, lack of miracles and members will be lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God.

We need to be in touch with our original vision, as spiritual men, we are to walk by the spirit not by fresh, it is not how far we get but how well we do God’s will.

If we grow where we are planted, we will shine, our light will glow for all to see and people will want us to direct them to the source of our light.

You and I can encourage other christians to walk in the spirit by prayerfully, quietly and patiently living out our spiritual conviction.

Overcoming Detractors

Victory over a detractor/enemy in life could define how successful we are.  A detractor pulls a person away from one’s purpose, plan and joy.  Their actions eventually make their victims miserable and unproductive, the resulting confusion, apathy and eventual surrender further empowers the detractor who feels compensated for their perseverance.

Success is taking charge and being in control, fulfilling our purpose in life and walking our own path.

Success is not an event, it is a process( a way of life). As long as you are on the path you have considered right for you, then, you are victorious/ successful.

You could be your worse enemy, if you chose to deceive yourself or deliberately deviate from what you know is best for you. Have fun being you.

Everyone needs to eliminate the following from their life:

  • Deceit/Denial
  • Laziness
  • Ignorance
  • Revenge
  • Indiscipline
  • Imprudence
  • Discontentment/Greed
  • Toxic people

In as much as it lies in your power, reduce or eliminate contact with a detractor. If an enemy does not succeed with psychologically ruining someone, they can physically kill.

Wisdom from the Bible– 1 John 3 :12b  ” …and for what reason did he slay him, because his deeds were evil and his brother’s were righteous”.

I am reminded here to prove my faith today:  I have chosen to subdue all negative imaginations, after praying about them and hold tight to my blessings knowing that God surely answers prayers just  like  morning after night.

From these verses, it is obvious the watchman has full faith on his experience, he  watchfully occupies the time as he patiently waits for the morning and hooray! his shift once again is over.

Self examination!

Some may say self-examination (Personal Audit) is for serious-minded people, or maybe you think it is time consuming. Believe me you are a serious-minded person who has all the time in the world to do some soul-searching. It is as easy as doing the next activity you have set out to do – cooking,eating, dressing, visiting and lots more.

Everyone is intuitively engaged in self-examination, but, with minimal result. It is hoped that after today, we will make the most of searching and understanding our motives and actions.

If you are not alarmed by your discovery, start again, mind you this is not meant to be an event but a continuous process – daily, weekly, monthly, seasonal as desired.

Generally, evaluate the past as well as present experiences, choices, omissions and associations. You need to benchmark yourself against standards (like moral laws/obligations, bible, traditions) you personally uphold or believe in. it is also important to look up to chosen mentors in the society.  In a nutshell build a picture of who you want to be and note deviations from this image. It will be useful to document your thoughts. Date and place should be included.

Vulnerability

I am (your name) a special person

You may be imperfect, unusual, not really who you thought you were.  Never mind, you are work in progress. Who do you want to be? From this moment see yourself as that person.  Your vision and purpose shapes you.You have all you need to get there. 

Vulnerability

Vulnerability – Susceptible to emotional hurt or external control or physical attack. Liable to succumb, as to persuasion or temptation.

As humans we tend to be deficient in certain areas of life at some point in time. We than become vulnerable to our co-travellers (family, friends, colleagues competitors, enemies and so on).

We are created to be in control of ourselves, environment and other living things (not people) – remembering the Garden of Eden; however, evil men have extended this to include other humans even to the point of annihilating competitors. Cain killed Abel because he was envious of him.

History tells us of tribal and national wars using bow and arrow, guns, bombs and other weapons, but today, tactics rather than physical warfare is employed these include conspiracy, technological manipulation,  industrialisation, materialism, capitalism and lots more.

To survive and be who we want to be, we need to be in control of all factors contributing to our peace and wellbeing. Let’s start with the basics, food, clothing and shelter. Thrive to be gainfully employed in activities that will generate money to enable you provide these.  Nothing should stand between you and an honest and morally acceptable job.

Be content with who you are and where you are coming from, others may emotional degrade you to make you their subject – mind game, if you constantly remember your vision and purpose you will not fall victim.

Always search within for more knowledge and answers; there are resources every where – internet books, newspapers, travelling, library and getting involved in practical activities of everyday.

In as much as God does not want us to hurt others, he does not want others to hurt us (be wise as serpents and innocent as doves). We should be victors and not victims.

Are you a victim or a victor?

It is a constant challenge to watch out for those that want to take advantage of your vulnerability to the extent of controlling or abusing you.  These people surprisingly are right in your family, church and at work and then of course in the wider society.
